The Omni hotel in Louisville, Kentucky announced a $289 million renovation designed to bring over 500 hotel rooms by 2018. The plans seemingly grabbed the attention of neighboring hotels, spurring them to evaluate and consider their own upgrades. The Hyatt Regency Hotel, for example, is overhauling each of its nearly 400 suites and guestrooms in a renovation effort valued at $14 million. Now, Jefferson Street’s 616-room Louisville Marriott Downtown will soon follow suit with renovation plans of its own.
The Marriott’s renovation plans are focused on the Kentucky and Marriott ballrooms plus the meeting room spaces and upgrades to a couple of the guestrooms, tentatively scheduled to be completed by 2017. There are also plans in the works to touch up the restaurant spaces that currently house the Blu Italian Grille and the Champions Sports Bar & Restaurant. Those plans are slated for later next year or the beginning of 2017. Collectively, the changes to the meeting rooms and restaurant are expected to cost about $5 million.
The Louisville Marriott Downtown is located at 280 West Jefferson St Louisville, Kentucky 40202. Besides its 600+ rooms, the building is particularly popular for various social gatherings and business conventions. There is also a catering service available for events like weddings. Amenities include a fitness center open at all hours of the day, a pool, and more.
