Forbes Travel Guide recently released its annual list of hotel awards, revealing some major surprises. A whopping eight Florida hotels managed to make the list of five star rated properties, and a few of them are located in Miami-Dade County.
The wildly successful Faena Hotel in Miami Beach is a five-star newcomer. Located in the Mid-Beach area, the hotel occupies the former home of the Saxony Hotel and has quickly become one of the most popular places to stay in the barrier island.
The Mandarin Oriental in the Brickell area also received a five-star rating and is well-known for its unique synthesis of American and Asian at its restaurant called Azul and an incredible spa. Also earning five stars is the Acqualina Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, acclaimed for its Acqualina Spa by ESPA. In fact, Acqualina is making it fifth consecutive appearance on the Forbes list.
Just south of the Acqualina is the St Regis Bal Harbour making its fourth straight appearance. A little further south in Miami Beach is The Setai, which received five stars and is making its third straight appearance in the Forbes list.
Other hotels in Florida that managed to make the five-star list include the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, the Four Seasons Resort in Palm Beach, and the Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa.
