Business travelers are used to jet-setting around the country at odd hours of the day. However, when you’re tired from a particularly long or delayed flight, there is nothing fun about having to then wait in a long line when you’re checking into a hotel. This tried and true process can seem like an eternity when all you want to do is go to the privacy of your room. There are now plans in the works to do something about this.
A major Las Vegas-based gaming corporation is currently putting the finishing touches on a self-check-in pilot program launched back in December that was being tested at three of its hotels located on the popular Las Vegas Strip. After extensive testing, the program has been deemed a success and will be expanding to several of the corporation’s properties during the summer.
The self-check-in kiosks function similarly to those seen in airports or rental car companies. Unlike those that result in a boarding pass or receiving a vehicle, guests not only check in, they receive their room key right from the kiosk. The kiosks are also intelligent enough to determine whether or not a room is ready. Should it not be ready, the guest can still check-in and will be notified so they can return to the kiosk and receive their key.
Considering a hotel can have over 2,000 people arrive in a day when a convention is being held, the self-check-in option is a tremendous time saver.
