The Hotel President in Waterloo, Iowa is one of the oldest buildings in the city. Built in 1929 and then known as Park Towers Apartments, it is rich in history and yet is perhaps best known for wrestling, of all things. It is considered the birthplace of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) which, until the emergence of the WWE, remained the single most powerful organization in pro wrestling. Today, the building goes by the name of Hotel President and is set to become all-new again thanks to a massive $12 million makeover.
Renovations at the Hotel President are actually well underway, with several of its floors already completed. Some of the new changes, improvements, and enhancements include new climate controls and finishings, and a considerable boost in lighting. Guests will also enjoy improved security features and there is also a brand new community room occupying the space where the hotel’s lounge once was.
Anyone interested in seeing the new and improved Hotel President may want to set aside this Wednesday to attend the open house between 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. With the bulk of the renovation done, the development company overseeing the renovation estimates that the projects should be completed by the end of the year, signaling a brand start in 2016 for this classic hotel.
