Has there ever been a moment when you’re staying at a hotel, relaxing in your bed after a long flight, and wished that someone would do you the favor of turning down the A/C for you? With today’s technology, the idea is not all that far fetched and thanks to the power of Apple’s iPhone and voice assistant Siri, this will soon become a reality, at least the Aloft Hotels anyway.
Starwood Hotels & Resorts is unveiling what it calls “Project: Jetson”, voice activated hotel rooms using Apple’s Siri. Each of these rooms will have a built-in iPad running an Aloft app where guests can fire up the usual “Hey Siri” and ask it to not only control the temperature but also turn the lights on and off, as well as many other features. These rooms are already available for booking at Aloft Boston Seaport and Aloft Santa Clara.
Besides the temperature and lighting, guests will also be able to fire up tunes based on their mood and allow Siri to act as virtual concierge of sorts by suggesting local attractions. Basic features like browsing the Internet and checking the weather will also be available. Upon checkout, all of the guest’s information will be erased and the iPad will be reset.
